During exploration, I played with holding different points and moving them up and down at the same pace. Then I got inspired by sky lantern, and because holding from four corners of a square and maintaining the square on a plane by hand is impossible, I moved to the capstan bench. I intended to have four pinches on the diagonals of the fabric to make a square. I decided to use four separate pulleys because I was curious about the movements that do not synchronize. Setting up the system was a challenge and having them moving at the same pace was very difficult. However I’m happy with the result although I didn’t get perfect synchronization, I was able to to see the effects of manipulating individual lines.
