For this assignment, I wanted to explore more controlled movements of the cloth using the capstan software and touch pad. I wanted the cloth to move more freely, but I found a few restrictions due to unfamiliarity with capstan and how ‘puppeteer-ing’ actually works with just up to four points of movement. I think once I tested the placement/connection from the cloth to the stand and the strings that connected to the four motors, I realized that placement is very important in how the piece moves. The idea I had in my head seemed like a simple motion, but turning it into reality was quite difficult.
