Magic Curtain
This one got kind of abstract – I cut out a large curtain of muslin and sewed wide channels in diagonals across one side. The idea was to have a modularly expanding and contracting curtain that would fold at different angles. As I was documenting, I had taped my phone to a rolling chair so I could adjust the position of the shot easily while using the Line photo app (incredible documentation app btw!) and noticed how the the cropping of the shot made the fabric appear to magically frame the video. Oddly, I find intrigue in the visual, digital artifacts I’m collecting from these assignments. In terms of the movement of the actual fabric however, I was really not pleased. Trying to intuitively recall the ins and outs of the capstan has been an ongoing struggle but I’m eager to keep learning.
