In this we piece we aimed to put the two pieces in contrasting motion . The fabric structures we made are somewhat visually similar, but are constructed differently and have different fabric qualities. We found that running the pieces over the bar created interesting contraction and motion in the fabric, and decided to make that a central part of our movement. The hardest part was trying to get the rigging and counterweights right in order to run the pieces in both directions. Additionally, we found that while low dampening produced interesting motion, the lines would slip as we tried to move the pieces over the bar, so we had to set the dampening coefficient higher. Finding the correct weighting balances was key in order to run them both forwards and backwards, so much time was spent experimenting finding the exact point where they would not get stuck trying to go over or come back.
