Datasuckers FINAL

We got to MVP, although with quite a bit of rushing at the end. Also, we finally came up with a name for our game: Cyber Sleuth

Things we have:

  • An environment that you walk around and interact with objects in.
  • An interface to review evidence and make an accusation.
  • Dialogue and text descriptions

That was basically what we were shooting for, and we got there. As for the process, there are a few things that could be improved.

  1. Clear leadership
It wasn’t clear who was in charge of making sure everyone was on track, and keeping a clear vision of all the moving parts. Basically we lacked a producer. Everything else here basically stems from that I think.
  2. Crunch
It seems to me that we could have used more programmers. On the sound and art side things got done much earlier than the technical aspects of the game, which were always finished the night before we had to present it. This also meant we never had much time to make presentations, and I wasn’t sure what to put in blog posts. The programmers job seemed the hardest to me, especially since none of us have ever worked with AR before, and they are the ones that actually have to implement it.
  3. Asset Tracking
I think it would have been helpful to have a place that we were all putting assets in that wasn’t the submission folder or as a message in Discord. That got confusing because it was not obvious where everything was, and there were multiple versions of the project in the submission folder.
  4. Meetings
We did have meeting times, but they were sometimes inconsistent. Scheduling was very difficult. It would have been nice to have had a meeting on Tuesday or Wednesday, as a midweek check-in. But the only times we seemed to be able to get were Monday, right after the weekend, and Thursday, right before the due date. So our meetings mostly consisted of planning stuff, and less making sure we weren’t doing things right before the deadline.

We have the game, and Andrew just finished the trailer.
We made it to the end, so hooray!
