Grand Park is a 12 acre park in downtown Los Angeles that opened in 2012. It stretches over several blocks connecting city hall to the stretch of Grand Avenue that is home to the Walt Disney Concert Hall, MOCA, The Music Center, The Ahmanson, and now The Broad. “The Park for Everyone”, events are curated by the The Music Center with a mission of featuring local arts and community. In 2013, Akiko, a member of the collective mapjacks, approached the park staff about projection mapping onto city hall.

I have been working as the playwright/writing mentor and sometimes program director for Will Power to Youth (WPY) at Shakespeare Center LA since 2005. WPY is a youth employment program. LA teens and young adults are hired to work full-time for 7 weeks to collaboratively create an adaptation of a Shakespeare play.

The Monitor Celestra was a Nordic-style larp (live action roleplaying game) inspired by Battlestar Gallactica that transformed a Swedish destroyer-class battleship into “a real frakkin spaceship.” The game lasted over three weekends, included 389 participants (players) who each paid a fee,

Presented by The Industry opera company and the L.A. Dance Project. Invisible Cities, adapted from the Italo Calvino novel, was performed in downtown LA’s Union Station train station amidst commuters, skateboarders and vagrants. The orchestra performed from a separate wing of the station and the performers and audience members listened to the music through headphones.
