Singing Fish:
Is it tacky? or is it art? Let this fish sing the blues
I know that this idea isn’t new, but it’s something that, until recently, I would never have been able to create.
As simple as it is, a singing fish just so happens to address the prompt quite swimmingly.
When the sonic sensor detects an input, the fish will come to life, and sing its song until it’s satisfied.
3 sonic sensors to determine closest input and direction it is coming from
your run of the mill singing bass fish
homemade and ready to roll
fish has 3 servos that react when you pass the sonic sensor threshold. One for the mouth to match song, 2 for joints, one positioned at neck, one at waist
once the input has been triggered (you get close to the fish) the bass will break out into song
will finish its number and then go back to resting position
while in song, all inputs will be null
to be made of popsicle sticks, repurposed t-shirts, and stuffed with recycled plastic
need:
- arduino
- 3 sonic sensors
- 2 motors
- df mini + speaker
Quadroped:
to mimic life
Can a homemade artificial pet push a feeling of empathy on creator?
I’d love the opportunity to create my own pet. I think that our own biology is a fantastic base for design. I want to test my understanding of deliberate movement through simple yet efficient mechanisms.
There are many different ways to create movement for this creature. Current idea would be a slug-esque creature that crawls toward the brightest source of light. Would have 3 photoresitors and 3 motors. 2 for crawling and 1 for direction. The photoresistors will indicate direction.
There would be a motor to move forward, potentially 2 for front and back legs
a motor for turning, in middle of creature
sensors for physical awareness
In the same vein as the strandbeasts, but powered through servos
Input will be sonic sensor, like a roomba
will go through variations of design to see what works best
wireless?
to be made of popsicle sticks and repurposed t-shirts
need:
- Arduino
- 3 servos
- Sonic sensor
- Bluetooth? Not sure how a wireless system would work
Looking at you:
The ideal would be to make a person feel uncomfortable when this puppet is looking at them
The closer you are, the greater the discomfort. Will be making an audible sound of displeasure, growing louder as you enter its personal space. Ultimately resulting in a screeching noise until personal space requirements are satisfied.
3 sonic sensors (as of now I think these would be the best approach)
2 servos, one for eyes and one for mouth
eyes will track the closest input
the closer you are to the input, the wider the mouth will be, accompanied with an uncomfortable humming
need:
- Arduino
- 2 servos
- 3 sonic sensors
- dfmini + speaker
