Push Pull Part 2 – Lucian and Eliza

Starting Out
We started by taking 2 concepts we really liked; Eliza’s tentacles and Lucian’s through holes. We ended up decided on embellishing a basic shape with lots of tentacles, holes, and tentacles through holes. We paid particular attention to how the form would interact with the space. We found a really nice tight space and wanted our shape to be squeezed and conform around the wall. We considered the lattices on the first floor but decided the half wall would be better due to better visibility from the glass wall on one side and half-wall on the other.

Issues we ran into
The technical challenge of sewing cylindrical shapes to flat surfaces. Also making sure the tubes get sewn properly on both sides and line up in terms of location and rotation. We would have liked more time in general to work on the project.

Future Considerations
Tube placement. It was hard to judge what the form would look like inflated so the air tube ended up in a not ideal place. Changes to the dominant form. Have the base shape be more interesting overall.
