Brief recap of objectives for Exercise: Sensors Duo.
Discussion: any additional thoughts on the in-class ‘reactive program’ exercise?
Q&A: control theory lecture videos
Partner exercise in non-verbal coordination.
Each pair take one piece of string and find some open floor.
Each partner grasps an end of the string in one hand.
Stand a comfortable distance apart, facing each other, with the string somewhat slack.
Close your eyes.
Gently and slowly move your hands until you feel the string come into light tension.
Can you gently locate the transition from slack to tension?
Can you cyclically move between tension and slack?
Can you maintain constant tension while constantly moving?
Can you keep the string level while in motion, e.g. by mirroring your motions using only tactile feedback?
Can you negotiate a move to a consensus target without either leading or following?
Can you slowly increase the tempo while maintaining the same light tension?
Reflections:
Did you feel you were communicating with your partner?
Did the roles feel equitable? Did you feel either dominated or dominant?
