I started off by playing around with the controls themselves, adding a few new modes of movement that would modulate based on speed and suddenness. I enjoyed the way a movement that started on one end of the curtain would be carried across its length like a strange game of kinetic telephone, and wanted to further explore this idea of spatial and temporal memory.
For the video itself, I arranged two curtains as a “player” character and its “mirror” counterpart. While both received the same set of inputs, their movement were set apart based on their length and orientation. There was also some exploration in terms of color and camera angle to make the scene feel less stiff and more intimate.
