This is a very rough iteration of fabric scraps and cardboard taped to my hand. I was interested in highlighting the negative space between the thumb and the fingers, and wanted to create an effect where the materials were completely hidden until I opened my hand.

Inspired by the jaw piece I made in class, I wanted to refine the mechanism and make something that would be less direct than covering the mouth.

This was inspired by some basic popup card techniques I learned during a design project in my freshman year. I was interested in how the fabric pulls and shifts as I open and close my hand. The end result reminds me of a s’more.
