In this exploration I made moving hair inspired by Medusa of Greek mythology. I used triangular pieces of paper to make 4 curling flexure structures. Each of them was pulled by a string. Then, I fixed the strings on my shoulders and pulled the mechanical hair through swinging my head. This created an upward movement of the mechanical hair with dramatic effect.
This is an exploration of fur-bar links, I use the string on the finger to pull a spike fixed to my upper arm and produce a linear motion of it.
In this exploration I cut the cardboard into curing flex structure and fixed it to my leg. The curling board was pulled by a string fixed to the thigh. The bending of the knee tightens the string, causing the cardboard to bend upward. This simple design can transform the bending of a bone into an interesting curving motion on the opposite direction.
