Light through fabric

I had two expectations from this idea. One, is to see how light can be conveyed through fabric and the movement of the fabric through a rolling fan. I was able to achieve the first goal because I was able to see how light firstly diverges across the fabric before it conveys back at the center. However, I could not make the fabric to spin with the fan but an interesting thing I discovered was that, despite the fact that the fabric could not spin, it formed an unexpected shape of a windmill in a bright sunny day. I found this outcome to be quite interesting and surprising.
