Welcome to our Alpha prototype ~ This past week BANJOS has been working on implementing assets and finalizing the building blocks of our game.

Programming

The programmers finished the basic mechanics for the creator including the top-down view and directing/spawning clones. Furthermore, the art assets (map and models) have been added.

Art

The map has been modified and adjusted to include simple puzzles to test out the basic soldering mechanic. The variant model and animations have been updated. 

Sound

Our sound designer worked on the sound effects and ambiance, such as the: forest ambiance, explore music, and core run music.  The soldering music has been synced up with the soldering animation.

Game design

We implemented very basic puzzles in order to test out the code and make sure that the character can interact with the environment and other assets properly.

The building blocks that we can iterate upon to create more complex puzzles include:

  1. Map, component, variant model, and sound assets
  2. Variant and Creator roles
  3. Soldering points
  4. Activating LED when puzzle completed
  5. Directing clones
  6. Attacking clones

Next Steps

As of now, our game has all the building blocks (code and art asset-wise) to create cohesive gameplay. Our team’s main focus moving forward is to explore and test out different puzzles and interactions, such as directing electricity flow and figuring out details for the creator’s mechanics. With our building blocks, the programmers can implement different puzzles for playtesting. Meanwhile, artists will integrate a user interface for all the interactions.
