Improv Inflatables-Paris Mielke

Reflection:

I approached this project actively trying not to purposefully create a 3D object that resembled anything I know. I wanted the forms to evolve organically. Each of these five inflatables were created out of randomly cut shapes of varying sizes and pieced together by connecting shapes that had an edge of similar length. I discovered that connecting all of these shaped in this manner without giving any forethought was actually fairly difficult to close the entire 3d form and led to many concave sections in them.

I only used matte black tape when connecting building my inflatables as it was the only kind I had in my room, but in the future I look forward to experimenting with different types, different inflatable material, and putting more constraints on the way I create each inflatable so that I can examine how each constraint offers something unique to each form they are applied to.
