Doppelgänger – Tyler Koh

Doppelgänger

For my doppelgänger project, I decided to re-create a single “sperrys top-sider” shoe, an iconic shoe for New-England Prep school students, which I have been a part of for seven years prior to college. I tried to create a 1:1 ratio inflatable to the original, but I came to realize during my process that fabric naturally tends to blow-up and move outward. I somehow managed to restrict parts that I would like not blown up by hand stitching, like the bottom sole of the shoe shown below. Overall, it was a fun experience getting to create a “known” object and observing how they end up.
