F20 Course Kit¶
This is significantly updated for Fall 2020.
The course kit includes enough parts and materials that with some care and reuse all exercises and projects in the course can be completed. It does not include any tools. Although most of the work can be performed entirely by hand, students are encouraged to obtain their own hand tools as needed. The kit parts are yours to keep.
For students with on-campus lab access, many of these parts can also be found in the lab. In general, all lab parts used in course projects are borrowed from the lab and returned after the project is completed, documented, and disassembled.
Students with on-campus lab access may also be able to obtain laser-cutter access. These students will be responsible for obtaining or purchasing their own laser-cutting materials.
Errata¶
The ADXL335 accelerometers were backorded and not included in some kits.
The lever switches appear missing from some kits.
The DRV8833 driver package includes a row of 0.1” spacing pins intended to be cut into two lengths and soldered to the driver board.

Fabricated Parts¶
The kit includes a set of parts laser-cut from 6 mm plywood. The designs for these parts are available both in the class Fusion 360 team folders and as DXF files. This particular set of designs is new for Fall 2020, so undoubtedly there are errors and opportunities to optimize.
The intent of these parts is to provide some starting points for constructing mechanical structures for both exercises and projects. If you have laser-cutter access, you are welcome to duplicate them and modify them for your own uses as you wish.
