In this arduino-based project, someone has transformed the capabilities of the Wii Nunchuck from a gaming controller into an intriguing little instrument. It seems as the gyroscopic sensor in the Nunchuck was mapped to a list of frequencies being output via a small oscillator on the board itself. The scale/tonality the creator chose was quite pleasant and tame for this demonstration. I could see myself augmenting this concept even further by widening the rang of the oscillator, mapping more parameters to the various buttons and the gyroscope, and adding features such as waveform manipulation, filters, etc creating a fully performable instrument.
The documentation (in Japanese) of the build can be found here.
