For this checkpoint, I tested different methods to integrate fabric with the wooden mechanisms.

I attached cloth strips at the gear train and a folded piece of fabric with eyebolts in hopes to get both rotational and translational motion respectively. However, the strips do not provide that much movement and in fact, get more tangled in the mechanism.

Here, the effect of the cloth getting tangled on the handle is beneficial creating a more exaggerated rotational motion in the folded sheet

The mechanism allows for input on either gear system almost creating a crane effect when the winch-like part is actuated.

The mechanism utilizes a simplified crankshaft from my previous checkpoint combined with a simple winch with twine that runs through each level of gear helping it to spin.

While propping the pegboard up vertically allows for the strips to achieve better motion with gravity, the board in this orientation is more difficult to find a setting for in Hunt.

Maybe it would fit better on a bookshelf end cap allowing cloth or gears to poke outward or drape over the edge?
