The Weight Relate

Description

The Weight Relate is tool developed for younger children to understand the fundamental interactions between mathematics and the natural world. By taking number shapes weight proportional weights, they can physically see that 1 + 1 = 2, or that 3 + 1 = 2 + 2. Mathematics frequently becomes a chore for most younger children first being introduced to it since they are never taught about the application of the field to the physical world they are already familiar with. The Weight Relate was designed to increase early interest in mathematics and similar fields by providing children with an anchor to real-world application.

How it’s made

Base: The base was 3d printed on the NV Bots at IDeATe.

Number Weights: The weights were laser cut on the Rabbit Laser Cutters.

Stem & Beam: These were manufactured on the CNC.

Plates: The plates were laser cut and then bent by using a heat gun.
