Milling Machines

A standard milling machine.

What is a milling machine?

A milling machine is composed of a rotary cutting bit and a movable x-y-z bed on which material is placed. This bed is moved using three large control knobs which are operated by hand.

Milling is useful when more robust materials are needed and using a CNC machine is too expensive or when you just want to be able to sculpt the material more manually.

Where can milling machines be found?

Milling machines can be found in a few places on campus.

These all have special requirements or some sort of training to use.
