The following are due by the beginning of class, Tues., 9/14:

- Review this helpful Checklist of Equipment that you will need from A31 for dyeing.
- Acid Dye Skeins of Wool Yarn
- Work with your partner to dye 2 skeins of yarn 2 different colors.
- Set-up in Room A5 to dye your skeins (just like we did in class). You can use the sink in A5 to fill your pots 2/3 with water for dyeing.
- Dye Chemicals location: You will find the dye chemicals (dye stock solution, citric acid, salt, & synthrapol) in A5.
- Dye Equipment location: You will find the equipment for dyeing in the gray cabinet in A31.
- Use the sink in the janitor’s closet for dumping your dye water and washing out your fibers.
- Hang dry your yarn in the area we have designated for drip drying in A31.
- After you are finished, please clean-up all of the tools you used, dry them with paper towels, and return them to the cabinet in A31.
- I made a few maps to help you locate the dye chemicals & dye equipment. See the maps below.
- Wind your hand-spun yarn into a skein using the niddy-noddies. Tie figure 8 ties like you did on the other skeins. I will show you how to soak and straighten your hand-spun yarn in class.
