April 27 – Class 27/ Inflatable Event Planning + Work Time

Welcome! Today will do some additional event planning and check-ins, and then have work time.

House Keeping

  • Computational Embroidery Machine workshop on Wed., May 4, 1-4pm – please email Olivia by Friday 4/29 if you want to attend.
  • We have an exam slot for 8:30-11:30AM on Thursday, May 5. We will meet at 9:30-11:30am to talk about the show and do general clean up!
  • As we get very busy in the next few weeks, important to remember to clean up after one’s self in the A31 studio or other IDeATe spaces.
  • If anything is running low in A31, please let me know as soon as you see that something is running low by emailing me

Thursday Set-up

10AM – Neyetmare set-up (Douglas and Olivia)

2:30PM – Fly Trap set-up (Charlotte, Jennifer, and Olivia)

  • 6PM – Ribcage (Asad, Georgia, and Jiyeon)
  • 6PM – Garden (Heejin, Jules, and Skylar)
  • 8PM – Dome Team (Heeyun, Sandy, and Sophia)
  • (Sean will be the point person for inflatables on Thursday 6-8:45pm — Olivia will arrive Thursday evening at 8:45pm)

Friday set-up

If we are able to set-up on Thursday, then Friday is just a day of finishing touches and the show. If we do not finish set-up on Thursday, then Friday morning is when we will finish set-up.

Schedule

  • Thursday:
    • 10am — Neyetmare set-up cloud
    • 2:30pm — Fly Trap set-up
    • 6pm — Garden, and Ribcage set-up along with Animators
    • 8pm — Dome set-up along with Animators
    • (Sean will be the point person for inflatables on Thursday 6-8:45pm — Olivia will arrive Thursday evening at 8:45pm)
  • Friday:
    • 10am — Last call for inflatable set-up
    • 6pm — dinner — INFLATABLE STUDENTS show up here (unless emergency)
    • 6:30pm — “curtain call” for everyone (everyone must show up)
    • 7:30pm — Inflatables turned on
    • 8:30pm — Audience begins to arrive
    • 10pm — show closes
    • 10:10pm — strike the show (take down the show and return everything to Hunt)
    • midnight – Hunt Library Closes

Questions related to materials needs:

  • Dome: you wrote you needed 4 big sand bags and 4 small sand bags. Could you use 8 big sandbags instead?
  • Fly Trap: You wrote that you need 2 big sand bags and 2 small sand bags. Could you use 4 big sandbags instead?
