I was inspired by Curran’s mechanical work with crankshafts allowing for different radii to achieve different periods of motion.
I devised a similar crankshaft with the laser cut gears and dowels available to me with an inset gear to allow for more transfer of motion.
I am also interested in getting complex motion or at least two different trains of motion off of one rotating system as shown in the following video.
Here, I have two gears separated with a washer and attached with an I-bolt so they can freely rotate. Although tricky because I did not have bolts to secure the crankshaft, the pulleys do rotate as intended at different rates and direction.
