My overall idea was to display a virus encapsulating its host from all directions.
I drew inspiration from the flowers that close up during a certain time of the year. In order to mimic this I created a structure with 4 sides that curls into the center once inflated. There is 2 layers, each perpendicular from each other. The inner layer displays the “inside” of the host and is white to symbolize purity before being infected by a virus. The outside of the inner layer is a broken red and the outside of outer layer is a solid red to symbolize a virus slowly infecting the host. I chose red because it was an intense color that symbolizes danger.
Successes: I was able to imitate the enclosing motion in multiple directions and somewhat tell a color story.
Failures: The pieces don’t overlap when enclosing which is something I wanted to enforce the effect. In addition, I messed up the dimensions a bit so placing the two layers on top of each other was a little tricky.
