3 interactive dresses that change shapes in the pleats based on sensors, using pneumatic actuators
What feature of the work could we specifically evolve into a technique for wearable kinetic sculpture or costume?
The pleating technique and the pneumatic actuator to change the shape of the pleats/dress; I liked how the actuator was hidden.
What details of the artist or concept are not immediately apparent and how do they inform the work?
The title and how it relates to the work; I was expecting a more explicit representation of “city” but it seems to be more metaphorical.
Are there closely related works?
Ying Gao has continued to develop new interactive dresses recently; there are also other dresses with mechanisms that “protect” the wearer.
