1 Shadow that swallows you
I find shadow as a metaphor for a part of oneself that we try to hide but cannot get rid of interesting. I imagined what it would be like to have an inflated shadow that follows you to the point where it might swallow you.
For the surface material, I had several ideas.
- black organza/silk
- glitter fringe/sequins, something with hard texture
- fish scale sensors but spike-shaped
For activation: sole sensor
2 Breathe in, Breathe out
Because of masks or air pollution, the act of breathing became a conscious act we do. With tuba players, I think it would be interesting to implement a stretch sensor on a belt for them to wear and activate a movement with their breath.
As you breathe in, life appears, represented by plants surrounding the player and the instrument.
