For my garment, I’ve already gone through two fittings and made adjustments to the muslin slopers. Now, I am tracing the patterns back onto pattern paper and making sure measurements and curves match for either side of the garment. I took my muslin mock-up apart so I could trace the individual blocks.

I finished both halves of the bodice of my dress! I spent the weekend mostly working on the sleeves after I finished up the bodice last week. The next steps are to start putting together the skirt and cutting out and attaching the pockets. Things are moving along nicely and I think it should all be done pretty soon if things keep on going smoothly.

*Updates* – Franky Moore

I made the pattern pieces from the sloper, transferred the design to canvas, and added additional pieces for the waistband based on a favorite pair of levis. I have cut out all the pattern pieces out of their respective fabric with seam allowance, and have ironed interfacing to all necessary pieces, including the waistband and bands to hold belt in. The next step is to cut the hearts out, and bias tape the pant leg ones and not the butt-hearts because I will do those with the back length crotch seam.

Update – Sarah Xi

I just drew the slopers of my shorts and I’m going to cut it out and make a quick mock up to see how it fits lengthwise. I wrote out the order of steps in making the skirt and shorts as well.
The fabric I ordered also finally arrived! I couldn’t do as much as I wanted over the weekend as I was trying to catch up on sewing samples (which I’m pretty much done with) and other deadlines.

Garment Update – Sophia Huang

After putting the front and the back of the garment together, the waist area looks a little big and the bottom is too tight. After class, I made a few adjustments to the garment so that it fits better. I also made and attached the sleeves. The sleeves look a little weird and a little bigger than I wanted. I will be working on adjusting the sleeves so that it fits better. After doing so, I will be cutting the garment apart and tracing it for the final measurements.

I was also able to purchase black bias tape in case the ribbon is too hard to work with.

Danova-Progress update, skirt with pockets

I wanted to test out my patterning of the skirt with pockets, so I made a muslin mockup. I like how the pockets turned out but i think I will make the pocket bag bigger than the standard size for my final piece. My waistband fabric cover was also too short to go entirely around my waist but the gist of the garment is there. It took a lot longer than I expected but I like the general shape of the skirt and the way the pockets lay.
