This project will be done by Taisei Manheim, Jai Sawkar, and I. Our project proposal is a smart phone and on the screen there would be different apps. You could click on the apps and they would each do different things. One of the apps would resemble snapchat and allow users to put a few filters on a picture of themselves (using the computer camera). Another app would resemble spotify and allow user to choose different songs to play. There would also be an app that would resemble instagram and allow users to scroll through images and like certain photos. The last app would be the clock app which would allow users to see the time. We will probably add two more apps to the phone so that each of us codes two apps each.

Charmaine Qiu – Project 12- Final Project Proposal
The idea of customization has always been a favorite for people who want to create or own things that are authentic to themselves. For the final project, I want to create a game that allows users to experiment possibilities and create a desert item (cake, drink, or ice cream?) of their own. The main features of the desert would be hand drawn by me on Procreate/Illustrator, and imported to the sketch file. Other features can allow some sort of randomization, such as the sizing and color of small decorations. While decorating the desert, the users could choose the factor that they want, and visualize it by interacting with the keyboard/mousepad. Even though I have not completely settled on the type of desert that I want to create for the project, the project itself will be fun to create with the objective of giving the players a stress relieving experience.

We will be creating an interactive game related to climate change. The purpose of the game is to navigate through the maze in order to reach the tree sapling. Once the character reaches the tree sapling, it will mature into a tree. And then a new sapling appears somewhere else in the maze which the character must reach. Eventually, after playing the game long enough, the maze will be populated by trees. The fires will be moving in specific locations, so the character must avoid them in order to prevent game over.
We will use some sound effects to indicate success or failure and when a tree pops up. We’ll be using objects and turtle graphics in order to create this game.

For my final project I want to create a series of generative textile prints that could be used for different mediums, such as fabric, lasercut materials, or printmaking practices. One of my favorite projects from this past semester was creating my wallpaper design, so my plan is to expand upon those methods and use new skills I have learned to create fun and interesting patterns and prints. Using primarily loops and turtles, I want to experiment with color, shape, repetition, and other visual characteristics. I think it would also be fun to tie in the climate issue, either by using imagery or text and using that in the images/compositions that I make. I am also considering playing around with loaded images to collage together programmed and photographic elements. Overall, I am looking to have fun with creating images generated by the programming skills and practices that I have learned this semester.

For my final project, I knew I wanted to use the webcam. I want to create a series of generative mazes that is played through the webcam following your eyes. One of my favorite projects from this past semester was creating text to rain down and turtle patterns. My plan is to expand upon those methods and use new skills I have learned to create fun and interesting mazes. Using primarily loops and turtles, I want to experiment with color, shape, repetition, and other visual characteristics to make the screen look interesting. In addition, I would like to integrate the webcam into game. I would like the game to be played by following the users eyes. Overall, I am looking to have fun with creating images generated by the programming skills and practices that I have learned this semester.
Joseph Zhang — Project 12 — 3D Sine Wave
For my final project, I want to create a manipulatable 3D sine way form. This wave reacts to the mouse position as well as possible keys on the keyboard. I plan for the sine wave to be made of a individual particles, whether it be letters, circles, or cubes.
I’ve always wanted to do something including the third dimension and after seeing that p5.js can utilize webGL, I became really fascinated with possible ways I can do that. Changing variables include color, height of wave, and possibly orientation. Ideally, mouse position will control the location of where the max height of the wave will be. Keyboard functions may dictate the height of the wave, or if I can figure it out, the actual orientation.
My goal for this is to be able create 3D space using 2 dimensional elements. Obviously, 3D in P5 isn’t something that I’ve explored yet. However, it is something I’m eager to explore and learn about.

For my final project, I decided to create an interactive game where the player is given a set amount of time to move a net up and down and “filter” as much waste from the ocean as possible without harming the marine wildlife. I decided to calculate the total points system based on the number of years (back-to-back) that the trash collected would have lasted before decomposing, to give players a little more perspective on how the impact of a minuscule decision can quite literally last several lifetimes. I also wanted to depict the gravity of the waste problem in the oceans–while this is not directly related to climate change, I believe that it is still an important issue to address because it is another reflection of the careless attitude with which we as a society are treating our planet. I plan to use object functions to generate the items, and have the net move with respect to mouseY.
Claire Yoon- Project 12
For my final project I want to create a game where the user is stacking different types of cakes on top of each other. The cakes will be placed in random places on the screen as it is moving up (towards the sky) and the user will drag the cakes towards the center and start stacking them. The user is given a choice to pick what type of cakes to stack to create their own ultimate multi layered customized cake. However, if the dragged piece is offset by more than half of the length of the cake then the whole thing will topple over.

For the Final Project, I plan on creating an audio synthesizer that uses motion detection of the user’s hand from their camera to generate sound and visualizations that will be displayed on the screen. The visualizations will probably be layered over the user, and the sound will be constantly generated. Sound properties that will be controlled include volume, pitch, and wavetype, with perhaps occasional “sweet spots” on the screen in which a special sound is played.
As for the visualizations, these will be made to simulate the timbre of the sound itself. For example, if a sine wave is being generated, a more smooth visualization will be drawn, whereas a square wave will imply more rigidity. A rough sketch of how this might play out (without sound) is depicted below.

I will be collaborating with Katrina Hu. Together, we will create and interactive game with polar bears falling from the sky. The user will have to catch the polar bears on a slide-able block of ice at the bottom of the screen. If the user catches the polar bears with the ice block, a positive tone will ring. If they miss the polar bear, the bear will fall into the water below and “drown”. From there, the program will play a negative sound and the death count in the corner will increase.
There will be two types of polar bears – A big polar bear and a small polar bear. The small polar bear will fall slightly faster than the big polar bear, thus meaning they will be harder to catch.
As the death number increases, the background color will turn more dreary – meant to signify the number of polar bear deaths due to the climate crisis. And the dreary background is meant to show in increasing climate crisis.
